Next Steps

Next Steps...

Following on from my year with the church  received a grant from Dreams and Visions to enable me to explore prayer spaces further. This enabled me to give one day a week into designing spaces and working with other organisations to gain experience and wisdom.

I went to a networking gathering in the Cathedral in Norwich to meet people and create contacts.

I had the chance to create a small prayer space for children at a half night of prayer for a cluster of churches which went well. However I realised that it needed to be more child friendly and less 'pretty'.

I then worked with a kids workers from Wymondham, Andy Jones. I went with him to help put a prayer space together in a primary school. I didn't have a lot to do with the creative process but it was great to learn from someone so experienced.

I had a chance to work with Norwich Youth for Christ on a prayer bus for young people. This was great as there were so many challenges with space, how to hang things and even where electricity would come from! It was really great to work with such knowledgeable and enthusiastic people and I learned a lot from it.

I was asked to create another space for the churches half night of prayer. I tried to add in some more activities and make it more child friendly as well.

I then got the opportunity to design the Christmas decorations for the Carol service at church, and for this I gathered a big team together. It was a lot of hard work but brilliant fun! The place looked great!

newday 2013 - The Beginning...

Three years ago I created the Who Cares? prayer space at newday, a Christian youth event which happens each summer. I was given this opportunity as I was in the process of completing a year with my Church in Norwich. This was my first experience of creating a prayer space, and my first experience of turning a barn into an inviting, exciting space to find quiet and reflection in an otherwise manic youth week away.
This is the result...

            This space began my journey...
